Pollstar gets each figure by dividing reported box office gross by paid tickets. Its box office reporting policy says what counts as gross and as a paid ticket. Taxes, ticketing fees and secondary prices are not in the figure.
The 2016 figure is derived. We found no 2016 average stated by Pollstar. Pollstar stated how much the average rose in 2017. We subtracted that rise from the 2017 figure. The 2010 and 2015 figures were stated later, in Pollstar's 2019 business analysis.
Pollstar changed its method in 2018. Before that it used calendar years and added estimates for late-year shows that were not reported yet. From 2018 it uses a chart year that ends in November and counts reported shows only. So 2017 and earlier are not strictly comparable with the later years.
These are Pollstar year-end averages for the top 100 worldwide tours, before fees, rounded to the dollar. Only the years with a figure stated by Pollstar are shown. The gaps between bars are not equal in time. 2017 and earlier used a different method.
The top 100 average was $70.33 in 2010 and $96.17 in 2019. The large increase was between 2022 and 2023, when it went from $106.07 to $130.81.
What Pollstar's top 100 average covers and what it leaves out
The average covers the 100 top-grossing tours in the world for that year. A club show or a theater tour outside the top 100 is not counted.
It is a box office price. Fees and tax are not in it.
The average changes with which shows are counted. Pollstar's 2025 year-end page says stadium shows averaged $216.13 in 2025 ($182.66 in 2024). Across every event reported to Pollstar, the average was $90.27 in 2025 and $36.68 in 2001.
What Pollstar reported for North America and for 2026 so far
For North America only, Pollstar's top 100 tours averaged $134.23 a ticket for the full 2025 chart year. At the 2026 mid-year mark the North America figure was $122.15. It covers shows from November 13, 2025 to May 13, 2026.
Do not compare $122.15 with the year-end numbers in the table above. A mid-year figure covers a different set of shows. Pollstar published its 2025 year-end figure in December 2025. We add the 2026 figure once Pollstar publishes it.
Concert ticket sales by year for Pollstar's top 100 tours
Pollstar also reports how many tickets its top 100 worldwide tours sold. The table has only the years where we found a stated total.
| Year | Tickets sold, top 100 worldwide tours |
|---|---|
| 2017 | 66.79 million |
| 2018 | 59.8 million |
| 2019 | 57.7 million |
| 2022 | 59.2 million |
| 2023 | 70.4 million |
| 2025 | 67.3 million (down 3.7% from 2024) |
The totals come from Pollstar's year-end pages for 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2025. We did not find a 2024 total stated on those pages. The 2017 total includes estimates for shows that were not reported. Totals from 2018 onward do not.
How much are concert tickets in 2026 on the sites we track?
For 2026 prices we used the listings we track on Vivid Seats. In late September 2026 we took the cheapest listing (the "get-in price") on about 36,000 US concerts. The concerts are dated October 2026 to March 2027. We removed parking and add-ons. These are asking prices, not sales. Tax is not included.
Half of concerts had a get-in price between $51 and $91. About 23% were under $50 with fees.
The $132.62 at the top of this page is for the top 100 tours. The typical concert we track had a get-in price near half of that. They are not the same measure. One is a box office average before fees. The other is the cheapest asking price with fees.
For the middle listing we took each concert's median listing. Then we took the median of those across all concerts. Keep in mind the cheapest listing can be a single seat or a poor seat. You may also see about 2% more on Vivid Seats than the prices we track. See average ticket price by event type for theater, comedy and sports.
We tracked the lowest primary price on Ticketmaster
On Ticketmaster we looked at concerts still on sale. The lowest primary price we tracked was a median $35 before fees. With fees it was about $50, across about 12,700 concerts. It is the lowest primary price tracked, not the cheapest ticket you can buy. We checked it against the event page 18 times. It matched the lowest ticket 10 times. Another 6 times it was 14% to 68% under it (promo prices, single seats).
We also checked seller prices on listings that lost tickets
We looked at about 58,500 Vivid Seats listings that lost tickets while still on sale. They came from 766 concerts our members tracked. The event dates are October 2025 to September 2026. A listing losing tickets is our best sign of a sale, not proof of one.
On those listings the median seller price was $155 a ticket before fees. The middle half was between $99 and $262. Counting each concert once, the median is $125. These tracked concerts lean toward big tours. Do not compare the $155 with the $68 get-in price.
What fees add to the price
On Vivid Seats, fees added a median 39% to the cheapest listing (about $20). Ticketmaster fees added a median 34% to the lowest primary price (about $13). Those medians cover all event types, about 87,000 Vivid Seats events and about 29,000 Ticketmaster events. One is secondary and one is primary. This is not the same ticket priced on 2 sites.
